Tactical Disengagement Training

Responding to industry calls through USU surveys and customer requests for more hands on training for Regulatory Services personnel who are faced with confrontational situations on a daily basis, TMLE have developed a course which allows front line staff more than just ‘classroom talk’.  The course has been designed, and will be delivered, by a former Tactical Safety Training Federal Police training instructor. Our experienced Training Officer has trained front line police and other government agency staff in this very topic over many years.

The Tactical Disengagement Course allows students to not only recognise potential dangerous situations, but also how to safely and lawfully use basic self-defence techniques to escape and seek assistance. The course will not teach students unarmed combat.

The course will allow the student to understand and use simple ‘disengagement techniques’ if placed in a situation of high risk or danger.

These methods are standard practice with police forces and defence organisations, commonly used as a  non-lethal way to protect one’s own safety and well being.

The course will have two sessions. The first session in the morning will cover theory, law and case studies.

The afternoon session will be conducted in our ‘mat room’. TMLE have designed a special ‘soft’ floor with approved exercise mats. This will be a low impact,  trainer led and supervised session of a hands on nature.

The student will be led through standard practice manoeuvres on each other and the trainer to ensure correct methods are being retained and used. No weapons or instruments will be allowed into the training room.

A typical scenario will be the student being shown how to release themselves from a ‘bear hug’ or a ‘headlock’ to escape and seek assistance.
