This course is suited to Owner / Operators, Managers, Supervisors, Schedulers and Fleet Controllers who have the responsibility of scheduling drivers and monitoring their fatigue in accordance with the new fatigue laws. New Heavy Vehicle Driver Fatigue laws commenced on 29 September 2008. The reforms make all parties in the supply chain legally responsible for preventing driver fatigue. Vocational Outcomes

The resulting qualification is recognised by the transport industry throughout Australia and fulfils the requirements to obtain a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

The course will provide the student with a stand-alone credential which is invaluable in attaining employment in the transport industry but also streams into and complements the certificate II and certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (road transport) from the Transport and Distribution Training package TL 107.

Purpose of the Course

Fleet Control Personnel (Schedulers), must be trained and certified in order to manage drivers working in excess of 12 hours per day, metropolitan, country trips or long distance. Schedulers must be formally qualified to this new standard.

  • Recognise Breaches of Fatigue Management Policies, Procedures and Regulations.
  • Develop and Assess Staff Competence in Fatigue Management.
  • Provide Feedback to Employees on any Shortcomings In Fatigue Management Skills And Knowledge.
  • Report On The Implementation of Fatigue Management Policy.

  • Option: Standard Hours. Requirements: Basic work and rest limits
  • Option: Basic Fatigue Management (NHVAS accredited). Requirements: More flexible work and rest hours linked to accreditation
  • Option: Advanced Fatigue Management (NHVAS accredited). Requirements: Create your own safety management system and work hours linked to accreditation

Course Outline

This course is specifically designed for transport industry schedulers and those wishing to attain accreditation to work within the transport industry as a supervisor, scheduler or driver. Students must complete the Apply Basic Fatigue Management Strategies course TLIF 1007C before becoming eligible for this course. TMLE can provide this required training.

Award

Students will receive a Statement of Attainment from the Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport) Transport and Distribution training package TL 107.

Duration

TMLE allows 16 hours for training in a face-to-face, limited class size environment, which allows our trainers to interact on a personal basis and deal with individual issues relating to individual circumstances.

Structure

The course will be conducted by one of our instructors in a location that suits you and your team. TMLE allows for up to 16 hours of classroom instruction.

Recognition

TMLE recognises the skills and knowledge that you will have gained as a professional driver and or scheduler and we are happy to take this into account when enrolling you and your team in the course (refer to RPL).

Assessments

Assessment for this program is conducted by:

  • Workbook activities reflecting typical workplace situations
  • Classroom interaction and participation
  • Completing a computer exercise which simulates a typical workplace scenario
